EMERgency MANager

Availability

How EmerMan should be accessible by the users.

Main core

The main core should be available via web (http, https protocols) on a fix web site. Fix web site means an unique url for all the world where anybody can starts an emergency or exchange data about it.

This means that 24h/day, 365 days/year there is one place where to go, ready to exchange information and to give help / support.

To increase the speed of the site, the compatibility and the user usability the interface of the main core should be as much simple as possible, without heavy images, without plug-in, without advertisements, with less scripts as possible.

The main core should contain the 100% of the EmerMan functionalities (may be some specific device features should be not included... Let's see later...).

Mobile app

A mobile app, for each different devices (Android, iOS, etc.), should be available and the main goal is to use it when no internet connection is available.

If a mobile user needs to use EmerMan, the first time she/he has to go on the main core web site where she/he can work with it or can download the relative app. When the app is installed, the device can work online and/or offline via this app.

The mobile app probably will not contains all the functionalities of the main core. Let's see later...

Computer program

Like for the mobile, a program should be available for the computer, for each different operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.).

If an user needs to use EmerMan, the first time she/he has to go on the main core web site where she/he can work with it or can download the relative program. When the program is installed, the user can work on that computer online and/or offline.

Removable parts

Some part of EmerMan, like the registries of items/people, should be useable also as standalone interfaces/programs when they are not involved in an emergence situation, but either the main core either the removed part known where to find each other.

In example, the main core can know there is a Fire-fighter's station in the town X, but doesn't contain their data. The Fire-fighters of the town X use, inside their server and network, a part of the EmerMan features (one or more "Removable parts" used standalone) to handle, i.e., their items/people.

When an emergency raises near town X, EmerMan knows there is a known Fire-fighter's  station in the neighbourhood and load their data to be able to handle/see them.

Multilanguage (English based)

EmerMan should be available in different languages. The English language will be the base language.

Everybody should be allowed to add a new language and to translate new words or fix existing ones.

The translation should be complete: the interface and the data should be translatable. "Data" means "all the data", also the names of the people/town: think, i.e., to the 東京 Japanese name that has to be written also as Tokyo.

The default language of each user should be the language sent by the browser, but with the possibility to change it.
